A running list of illustrative, vector-style painting ideas. Some are new, others are older pieces I think could be better if I came back to them in this style.
I am trying to find a balance between realism and illustrative. I can do realism, but I don’t particularly enjoy it. It feels like a chore.
Working as vectors isn’t exactly an escape from labor. Building an interesting illustration can take forever, and I’m never quite sure when an image is rich and complex enoughβor when it’s still just a clumsy digital doodle.
But I enjoy thinking this way more, and the finished images have another advantage: they’re already built to become stickers, shirts, prints and other things if I want them to.
Audiences seem to respond well to both approaches. Maybe a little more to this one.
